19th Century French Articulated Fish Pendant with Ruby Eyes

£200.00

№  S88

This antique hand-made pendant features finely engraved detail.

It is constructed of several connected movable ‘limbs’.
The overlapping scales are pinned together, allowing the fish flexible movement to ‘swim’.
The ruby eyes sit in a distinctive claw setting, allowing for a three dimensional effect, mimicking real fish eyes.

There is a hallmark and a maker's mark stamped on one side of the tail.

I have not cleaned the pendant since it has a beautiful, deep, dark patina formed over a long period.

* Please note the chain is not included, it is for photographic purposes only.
